Thanks so much for your help. So I don't need to supply a passkey, for some reason? I guess now I go on to download the wireless-card firmware and such.

Your ethernet connection doesn't need a password but your wireless does (WPA2, hopefully).

Okay. I tried to download the Broadcom firmware the tutorial recommended, 'firmware-b43-installer', but it could not be located. Is it out of date?

Your device requires the wl driver -- follow this guide:
https://wiki.debian.org/wl#Debian_7_.22Wheezy.22

EDIT: You should also update your system -- Debian is up to version 7.8 now:
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Run these commands every week or so to get security updates & bug fixes for your system.

Hi,

thanks; I just upgraded. Well, it's going right now. I'll try the guide. Thanks again! I'll continue being a pest if I run up against any other walls.

The debian specific parts of the guide there may well be out of date. It's either wl OR b43, definitely not both. If you have a guide that's working, carry on.
