Tripple boot

Hi All!

My puter has Mandrake linux and winXP installed as dualboot (using lilo). I am about to install redhat 8 next to these two. How do I tell Redhat during installation that I want to use my existing lilo (I'll edit my lilo.conf myself later)?

Thanks.

I don't know that much about the RH 8.0 Install, but you should be able to tell it not to install LILO or Grub. That way, like you said, you can just edit your LILO conf file and put it in there yourself. If there is not an option to not install LILO or Grub, then I am unsure as to what to do, but I'll try and find out for you.

OK, what you need to do is when it gets to the installation of a bootloader, say 'Don't use any bootloader'. Then, once the install has completed, boot the computer into Mandrake. Mount the partition that holds your RH kernel and copy it over to your Mandrake partition. Edit your lilo.conf file and add an entry for RedHat. You must make sure that the lilo entry for RH points to the correct partition for it's root, and to the correct kernel file.

Example:
Code:
image=/boot/vmlinuz
        label=Mandrake
        root=/dev/hda8
        initrd=/boot/initrd.img
        append="devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi hdf=ide-scsi"
        vga=791
        read-only
image=/boot/redhatkernel
        label=RedHat
        root=/dev/hda9
        append="devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi hdf=ide-scsi"
You may need to also copy over the initrd.img file form your RH partition... that all depends on how it's setup. Once you've edited and saved the file, re-run lilo to put the changes into effect, and reboot your machine and cross your fingers!

Thanks guys!

I copied the boot-files form the redhat installation to the mandrake installation and this works.
