System envoirment (for exampe DISPLAY, PATH) originated from which file in linux ?


Dear all

I know we could set /modify system env in /etc/profile , /etc/bashrc, etc.
but those system env (for example , PATH ,DISPLAY) originated from which file in LINUX?

In FC4 it's controlled by the files in /etc/profile.d, which are called individually from the /etc/profile/script.
