steps to apply a patch


hello,

what are the steps to apply this patch?

That looks like a kernel patch right?

If so, you'd do something like this:

cd /usr/src/linux
patch -p0 < [patchname]

Once patched, just recompile your kernel to create a kernel with the changes the patch made, etc.

i don't know. i read somewhere that patches need to be compressed.
that is why i am asking

nope.

i move the file to the /usr/src/linux-2.4 (root)

when i type

patch -p0 kspatch2003oct02.txt

all i get is the cursor blinking

nothing happens

never mind. it looks like it is for a different kernel: 2.4.22

i have 2.4.2149
