Question Standby Mode

Do we have a standby mode in Linux as in Windows.

what do you mean by standby. you can turn off the monitor bydoing "xset -dpms off"(I think :-) )

By stanby mode i mean, that when we press shutdown in windows we get three options ,standby,restart and shutdown.iwanted to know if there is any such kind of facility in linux whcih helps to consume power the system is not in use.

try "man xset" and read that, this might be what you are looking for. good luck :-)
