Question SSH Copy/Paste Freezes terminal?!?

Here at work we call this "playing stump the geek", its an odd problem...

Running Ubuntu 7.10

Open terminal window
SSH into another box (Solaris)
highlight commands from a word doc (opened via OpenOffice)
center mouse button paste into the SSH terminal (also tried ctrl-c/ctrl-v, menu copy/paste)

SSH terminal is now frozen, can't type, ctrl-c, ctrl-d, nothing.

close terminal, open a new one, ssh back in, everything is fine. the moment I copy/paste something into the terminal it freezes.

anyone??

On the Solaris side:

Code:
# export
Find out what TERM is. You might have to switch it to 'VT100' or the like.

Question no joy

my term was set to xterm, switched to vt100 with the same result.

I must update my original post tho, I found that I can do a ctrl-c to un-freeze the terminal.

Found it!

There was an odd character in the word document, a long dash character, that was locking up the terminal. I converted them all (31) to regular '-' chars and it works fine.

Thanks for the help though!!
