Sony eReader and Linux.

I've just purchased a Sony "make.believe Reader" and am interested to compare experiences with other Linux users who may also have the device. Given the reluctance of today's manufacturers to give out even basic info, the shelf box has no useful identifying data on the outside, but it's generally known as a "Sony Touch":

http://www.sony.com.au/productcategory/bk-reader

First impressions suggest that it's a competent, quality device, and well worth supporting in this new "post-Gutenburg" epoch of eReaders and Tablets.

All of the included paper docn and User Manuals mention only M$ and Apple software, so the first and obvious question is just how FOSS/Linux friendly Sony is as a company; the second is whether any Lx apps/interfaces exist for it. All of the upload/download info relates to their M$/Mac "Reader" app, but it mounts as a standard USB device on my system and shouldn't be too hard to work with on that basis. I'll post progress updates if I get any responses.

All comments/contributions welcome.

Mounting the SeR under Lx.

When autodetected by KDE, the SeB (Sony eBook) registers as follows:

/dev/sdd on /media/SETTING type vfat (ro,nosuid,nodev,noatime,uhelper=hal,flush,uid=0,utf8,shortname=lower) [SETTING]
/dev/sdb on /media/READER type vfat (rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,uhelper=hal,flush,uid=0,utf8,shortname=lower) [READER]

Here are the 'tree' listings once the Sony 'Reader' (SeR) has been mounted by udev:

and the 'lsusb -v -s' output:
