Simple Script Files


How do i write a script file so that when i type something, such as "scilab" from the terminal it will open the program? instead of having to cd dir every time i want to open the program?

you might put an alias in your .bashrc

you can place a symbolic link to the program you want to run in /usr/bin (which is the programs folder).

as root:
ln -s /path/to/program/you/want/to/run /usr/bin/word-you-want-to-type-to-run-it

My version isn't the proper way, I guess (.bashrc is far nicer), but mine is easier for newbies
