Running remote application through SSH

Hi,
I have sshd installed in my machine at home so that i can connect to it from school. I'd like to run an application at my machine at home but dont want to wait hours for all the graphics to be loaded through the network.
Is there a way to run that application, but quitely at the remote machine and not display any graphic in the current machine ?

Thanks in advance
Anh.
