Question Reloading "profile" without rebooting?

My 2 questions are:

1) How can I reload the "profile" (/etc/profile) without rebooting the system?

I had to hard code some environment variables and I need to reload the profile in order to take effect...but I don't neccessarily want to reboot to do it?

2) I want to start VNC server on boot...so I was told to enter the same command to start it from the terminal (vncserver :60 -geometry 1024x768) and put it into the "rc.local" file...which I did and it does not seem to work? Can I put that same command into the "profile" instead?

Thanks

1. You can either logout and login again, or run:
Code:
source /etc/profile
2. you were told correctly about putting the command in rc.local, but you have to include the whole path to the command, i.e
Code:
/path/to/vncserver :60 -geometry 1024x768
