Produce core dump in linux 2.6

Hi,

How can I produce core dump in linux 2.6. Sending SIGABRT, SIGILL, SIGQUIT etc. using signal, kill or skill command are not producing core dump but just causing process to terminate.

Thanks,
Nirendra
