Process dies, when transfering files greater than 4 gig

I have been moving data to my external drive, and the same problem occurs when moving files from samba drives. I get the error "the process died, unexpectly", when moving files greater than 4 gig, and the proecess ALWAYS dies at exactly 4.0 gig

How do i get around this issue/bug, whatever or is there some sort of fix?

FAT32 file systems can only handle files upto 4 gigs in size.

either split the file into several smaller files, or use a better file system.
