Printing using HP JaserJet 2200

Dear All,

I need a help... i using RH9 <Linux BPEN004 2.4.20-8 #1 Thu Mar 13 17:54:28 EST 2003 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux >. I use the printerconf-tui to set the printer... the printer is found... however.. when i print the test page there is an error msg like this :

"There was an error trying to print the test page"

I've check the /var/log/messages and also /var/log/cups/error_log.. and there is no error message. I've try in the same computer, using XP, and its run well.

can any one help me ?

Type in this command and post back what it does;

Code:
cat /etc/fstab > /dev/lp0
It should print the file fstab.

Later

I'm trying to narrow this down a bit. Be patient.

Type

Code:
dmesg | grep lp
Lets see if it sees that port, and hopefully the printer.

Post back what you get.
Quote:
lp0: using parport0 (polling).
is the important part.

fc4 - lj2200

Hi - maybe I missed it, but what version of linux are you using, normally there is a print driver for the LJ 2200 in the GUI.

Another question, is this a printer connected by a parallel cable or does it have a HP Jet direct card (printer network card) and connected via ethernet.
