packages


say I compiled a program and on make install entered the destdir option placing everythin in a temporary directory, what command/options would I use to create eather a deb or rpm package using that directory

ex:
makepackage options /tempdir /~/whatever.rpm/deb

As for Debian it's not so straightforward. There are a big number of rules you have to respect (called debian policy). Anyway try reading this
