When DEB packages need strange packages

Today i'v tried o install both Skype and GimpShop and both reported missing dependencies, no problem i tought and ran an apt-get install for the missing packages. It didnt find anything. So i went to look for packages with similar names, different versions or something though, and found them, but they were already installed. What should i do?

libqt3c102-mt and i have libqt3-mt
libtiff3g and i have libtiff4
