Exclamation No power off

Is it possible to get RH8 to power off my computer??

I have the correct type of power system in the computer but when the computer goes down it sits at "power down" and doesn't actually switch off the power physically though I am assured that it should do ?? - Is this correct ??

Anyone help ??

Does it switch to runlevel 0 and stop all the running processes? I mean does it go through stuff like:

Shutting down httpd [OK]
Shutting down sshd [OK]

and then just hang when everything is done?

Hi peteren.

In your kernel, you need "Advanced power management" enabled (built into kernel) with the last option, apm power off call from BIOS (something like that.. not seen it for a while)

Compile this into your kernel, and you will notice that with an ATX power supply, your box will turn off by itself

Cheers
