No audio after setting a default soundcard

Hi,

I have an AMD Phenom III Desktop.

The on-board soundcard is ATI Technologies Inc RS780 Azalia controller.

Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel
Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel

This card plays audio but doesn't support a Mix or Monitor channel to record audio as it is playing. (i.e recording internet audio streams).

Anyway, I installed my other soundcard a soundblaster 16. This card workes in all linux distros and uses the snd_ens1371 modules and supports a Mix channel.

I disabled the the onboard ATI soundcard and rebooted.

The default soundcard is now the soundblaster 16, but it doesn't play any sound.

I've triple checked the connections on the back and checked the audio levels in alsamixer and kmix and they're fine but no audio is heard.

I ran this code from a terminal to see the order of soundcards
Code:
less /proc/asound/module
s
And the output is below

0 snd_ens1371
1 snd_bt87x
2 snd_hda_intel

I also blacklisted the snd_hda_intel module in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

Still no sound.

PS: The only way I can get sound is when I remove the soundblaster card and set the ATI soundcard back to default.

PPS: The soundblaster card is not malfunctioning because I put it back on the other computer and it plays audio fine.

I really want to use the soundblaster card in the AMD Phenom III desktop.

Does anyone has any suggestions? Much obliged in advance

Since my soundblaster card wasn't working on the AMD Phenom desktop, I decided to use the onboard ATI RS780 Azalia soundcard.

Long story short, I found a work-around to record any audio with pulaseaudio and audacity.

Now I can play and record audio from internet sites.
