Need help with printing high quality pictures in Linux

I have recently installed Red Hat v 7.1 and have been able to get most of my peripherals working. However, I am having problems with my HP Deskjet 932c printer.
I can print pictures in Windows that are of an acceptable quality.
However, in Linux, the pictures are grainy. The Linux pictures have
discernable little boxes on them that look like they might be pixels. It's like each pixel has a very faint outline.
I have used Image Viewer and whatever program runs when I double click on a jpg file.

Where do I start?

Well there's good old ghostscript, but I'm sure you've already tried that. I was going to rant about Windows printers but it appears that your printer may be OK. Have you checked the ghostscript...

Nevermind. Found this! http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/

Three cheers for HP!!! Binary and SOURCE packages for their deskjet series!

(there goes my HP Windows-only printer rant!)

I went to http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net
per your lead, and found details on the Linux printing package as presented in the "hp linux inkjet driver project". It looks like the two things I want the most are not supported: Back-to-back printing and high quality photo printing. I say this because "Duplex Module" (I think this is back-to-back printing) is not supported and DPI is stated as 600 X 600.
The DPI I get in Windows is 2400 X 1200. So I am not sure this package is what I am looking for.

No, I have not consciously tried Ghostscript, although I may be using it by default. How do I find out what printing package I am using?

By the way, thanks a million for your very valuable help.

Well it's a bummer that the support HP has offered so far appears to be half-hearted. The HP printing division makes more money (profit and net sales) than any other division.

I would guess that the binaries you got from sourceforge would be more useful than ghostscript, but have a look at the ghostscript web page as they may have some ideas for you.

I have issued the command
-
code
-------------------------------------
"rpm -iq ghostscript"
--------------------------------------
-
The resulting output indicates that Ghostscript V 5.50-17.src was installed on Fri, 22 jun 2001. This is probably the date that I successfully installed RHL V7.1.

So here is my assumption and a couple of comments.
-
Assumptions:
-
1.) "Good old" Ghostscript is installed and in use on my Linux system.
2,) The HP Linux Inkjet Project may have provided some files which are working together with Ghostscript.
-
Comment:
-
The HP Linux Inkjet Project lacks support for the two things that I want the most. Ghostscript appears to be the only show in town for right now. It lacks the robustness of the Windows HP printing software. For the time being, if I want to print anything back-to-back or if I want to print high resolution photographs, I will have to use Windows.
