You're using Fedora Core 2 right? (wasabi). I've been using mplayer in Redhat 8.0 and Fedora Core 1, and downloaded rpms from here:
http://ftp.icm.edu.pl/pub/linux/mpla...s/mplayer.html
To play windows media player format you'll need to install dmo codec package. But this time (in Fedora Core 2), I can't seem to play windows media format using the latest codecs because these packages conflict with each other:
mplayer-codecs-extralite-2.0-2.i386.rpm
mplayer-codecs-win32-dmo-2.0-2.i386.rpm
mplayer-codecs-win32-2.0-2.i386.rpm
I am yet to solve this problem. Anyone successfully install mplayer with dmo codecs in Fedora Core 2 (and can play windows media format)?
