Movie Player


My friend have suse linux installed in a dell laptop.

He want to play mpeg/avi movies from linux.
Please suggest me one player/drivers that can play mpeg or avi or 3gp files

You may take a look here. The opensuse community wrote a one-click install script to install all the needed stuff for full multimedia capability. Read carefully and eventually run codecs-kde.ymp to install support for restricted media formats. It will install mplayer as well.

Mplayer and VLC are two top notch players you can use.
