This may be in other places on this forums and I've looked and looked and looked but I can't find exactly what I need. So, I appologize if this is a repetitive post but i've been working on this for a week and can't figure it out :-\
Okay....
I mounted my network shares (//student/scoppetm$ and //student/winapp$) and as root i have write and read access but as my user I can only read, no writing and it's driving me crazy. Before I mount the shares I can change the properties of /mnt/scoppetm (where the first network share goes) and make 'me' (my user) the owner and set the permissions but as soon as I mount it it gets set back to normal and I can't change the settings again until I unmount it.
My other problem is this. I mount my ntfs windows drive (/dev/hdc2) I can not read it from my normal user. I've tried a few things with no luck. Any ideas?
It's driving me crazy. Is there anyway I can make my user (for all intesive purposes) root? then I'd have access to all my stuff and all would be well. But, if not, how do I give my user access to write the network shares?
