modules_install error in 2.6.1 kernel


hi guys
i m compiling 2.6.1 kernel on my rhl 7.3 box with 2.4 kernel. when i do a modules_install i get the message QM_MODULES:Function not implemented.. what cld be the problem..n then i get depmod:QM_MODULES....
any suggestions??
