Man Page or somewhere else?

I know I can add an ip address like /sbin/ifconfig eth0 10.0.1.1/24

but that isn't permanent.

I want to see all the options available for network scripts for examples the options I could put in ifcfg-eth0

Something like

https://access.redhat.com/site/docum...nterfaces.html

but man ifcfg doesn't seem to show me more than 3 options. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Thanks,

A

Did you try searching the net? A quick search of 'man ifcfg' produced 310,000 hits.

Try this.

Thanks for the reply.

I should have made myself clearer. I want to find that information without having to use the internet or anything that is not found outside of the local machine.

On a redhat machine if I type "man ifcfg" I get

http://pastebin.com/etpUtf5Q

Not very useful but I assume somewhere in there

there must be something closer to http://www.linuxcertif.com/man/5/ifcfg/

Any ideas?

It's up to the author of the man page to include as much information as they see fit.

I'm on Debian and there is no ifcfg command. After checking a few other distros, I only found the man pages on Fedora (RedHat) and Slackware.

But the first line does say that it briefly documents the command and it continues with
Quote:
This is a simplistic script replacing one option of ifconfig
Probably some of the other network man pages may help, try:
Code:
man ip
Or even try the ip-cref.dvi pages.
