Lost QuickBooks key

Somewhere in the mess of replacing HD just after other major components, I lost my QB 2001 jacket but still have the CD. I have no ref nos to use to create an account with Intuit (think I bought QB2001 thru eBay). If I could convert the files to ASCII I would switch to BasicBooks, the Linux PostgreSQL-based equivalent. But if I have to buy another QB, will I be able to use the full QXW (not QBB) file? Will I have to stick to 2001?

If you registered your QB you should be able to call Intuit and they will give you a key.
