Login problem!


After I used useradd -p assign a passwd to a new user, I can't login by using this user, how could I login by using new users other than use "passwd"

It wouuld help if you told us which distro you are using - there may be a gui tool you could use instead.

Did you use capital letters in either your user name or your password? Try useradd <username> or even, just useradd.

I think that when you use -p with useradd, it generally expects the password in an encrypted format. Some distros will prompt for information for the new user after you do a useradd, including password. If it doesn't, you can also use the passwd <username> command as root to change someone's password.
