Login problem

I just installed kubuntu on my laptop, and it seems to be working really well. the only problem is that it will not let me login as root. It never prompted me to type in a password during installation, and now i have no idea what it is.
Is there away i can change the passward, or is it a standard password like root or admin or something like that?

ubuntu uses sudo just type sudo and then your command and enter your password. if you want to set a root password do sudo passwd root

Thanks for the answer! It works, but when i try to login in as root at the main login screen it says root login not permitted. Is there something i can do about this, or can i only use root in the console?

its not a good idea to lg into X as root. whatever you need to do as root do it from the term. if you really want to do it look around int he menus for something that lets you permit root to log into x
