hi..i am trying to set up internet in mandrake 10.1 and when it was setting up, it tries to install file from my cd3. When i insert the cd3, it is in /mnt/cdrom1
but the installing file is lookin for cd3 in /mnt/cdrom
i tried to mount the /mnt/cdrom but it's saying it is allready exists but there is no file in the /mnt/cdrom.
all my cd3 files are in /mnt/cdrom1
how to i make /mnt/cdrom1 as default so when it's installing the files it will look for the files in /mnt/cdrom1 instead of /mnt/cdrom
Was this *after* you had installed the system and it was up and running, or during the initial install?
By default, the first (or only) CD-ROM drive is mounted to /mnt/cdrom. I have two drives on my system, and they are identified as /mnt/cdrom and /mnt/cdrom2. Did you do anything (that you know of, at least) that would have changed this?
it is after the mandrke instalation....i tried to set up the internet...
i don;t have 2 drives...i only have one dvd drive. i didn;t change anything....for some reason my cdrom is mounted to /mnt/cdrom1 instead of /mnt/cdrom
i tried to mount /mnt/cdrom it's saying it already exists...but i don;t see the files there...i see all the files in /mnt/cdrom1
i am trying to set up the internet from control center, while i am setting it up it's saying it have to install some pakages from cd3 and askin me to insert the cd3 in cd rom....i did insert it but it's saying cd3 is not found in /mnt/cdrom
Sorry, I should have been clearer: the Mandrake Control Center/Software Management panel *is* rpmdrake.
Good. At least I know what you are doing, now.
In rpmdrake, you will find that there are 4 "buttons": Install Software, Remove Software, Update, and Manage Media. Open the Manage Media panel, and find your cd3 entry there. {!! I am posting from work right now, not from my Linux machine, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details, here. !!} Select it, and click the "Edit" button on the left. (Maybe it's "Modify", or something like that.) I *think* somewhere in the data presented to edit will be the location to mount to - if this says "/mnt/cdrom1", change it to /mnt/cdrom, and save it. Or vice-versa. Then try the installation again.
If this isn't it, I will check when I'm home for lunch in a couple hours.
