When you change versions of KDE you also need to change versions of Qt. In your case you probably are recompiling the same version of KDE as Fedora supplied, so you would not need to recompile Qt for version compatibility. But Red Hat may have made changes to Qt as part of their Bluecurve changes to KDE. So you may have to recompile Qt also.
If you get a Bluecurve free version of KDE that runs on Fedora please post it some place where I can find it. I have disliked Bluecurve from the instant that I installed it and would like to get rid of it.
