Knoppix hardware installation

I have Mephis Linux and it works fine apart from one thing. Hardware installation eg a new printer.
Which I can not get to work.

Now I can see only two solutions :-
1) Install Knopppix
2) Add the software that Knoppix use to my Mephis installation. Is this possible ?
