Keyboard / trackball lock-ups

Hi,

Has anyone here experience keyboard and/or pointing device lockups before. Sometimes, I would be working on my RedHat LInux 7.3 system, and all of a sudden my keyboard or mouse/trackball would just stop working. Not response whatsoever. The only way to fix this is to do a reboot of my system. I not sure it this is a hardware/electrical issue or a driver issue. I am using USB keyboard and mouse.

So, everytime it lock up, I would have to restart the system or login from another box and reboot it. I would like to be able to fix this problem with the reboot.

Is there a command of any kind in Linux that tells the system to re-initialize the pointing device/mouse? Or is this not possible at all.

Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
