KDE vs Gnome

I am totally new to linux and am wondering what is the difference between gnome and kde. Which is more newb friendly and which is easier to handle.

both are easy to use, a new Linux use I would recommend using which ever looks and feels better to you. If I'm not mistaken Mandrake uses KDE as default which may mean that Mandrakes tools work better with KDE in which case you may want to go that rout. But otherwise I would say install both (if you can afford the hard drive space) and see which you like better.

As I always say. One of them is great and the other is crap... But it depends on your point of view
