kde volume manager first steps

Hello everybody!

atm, i m setting up fc3 on my new notebook. I m not really new to linux, but i m new to desktop/usb/wireless/automount and so on issues (used linux for routers and wwwservers before). I m using KDE and Konqueror, and i m facing problems with autofs/hal/kde-vol-mgr (i m really confused about these services)

the devices tab of konqueror shows 4 partitions, while i have actually got only 2:

devices
harddisk [/]
harddisk [/boot]
harddisk [/] (hda1)
harddisk [/boot] (hda2)

why? where can i start my search to find out? the upper two are not mountable, while the lower pair is already correctly mounted. are the upper two added automatically, while the lower two are fix mountpoints from my fstab? its confusing... is autofs doing anything, when kde volume manager and hal is working? what are the differences?

thank you for all answers and help, i am really stuck with that.

cheers,

kai
