logical volume manager

Does anyone know if logical volume manager supports formating a logical partition in either vfat or msdos. I was going to install wine there but mkfs.vfat, and mkfs.msdos are giving me errors when i try to format the partition. I can format it ext3 or ext2 and mount it fine. It seems to be a issue with LVM but I haven't been able to google any useful information about it.

i can only go so far as to say i certainly hope it can't deal with them. that's an utterly horrible concept to try to achieve. fat32 / ntfs support are not there out of choice, or because they are good, but becuase it's what people sadly need in terms of accessibility. actively creating these filesystems, especially on something so engrained and in depth as LVM... you shouldn't want to do this. you can't access LVM on a dual boot machine anyway,. so i fali to see any benefit from doing this.
