Question KDE 3 and kmenuedit on SUSE 8.1

Help!

I am running kde 3.0.3 on SUSE 8.1
I installed an app and I want to modify it's location on the kde menu. I can change it in kmenuedit but it doesn't change the actual menu.

SUSE has a support post that tells me tu run the kmenuedit as root (via sux -) but if I do that then my new app which I installed as a user doesn't even show in kmenuedit.

What gives ??????????????

kmenuediting

Do you use kde;s normal menu or do you use the default suse menu?
If you use suse menu you start kmenuedit and make the changes in the "suse" menu.
