can't delete with kmenuedit

well I'm pleased I'm really starting to gain some confidence with linux, I have got many things working now.

I am having some problems with the kmenuedit program though, I cannot delete anything, and now I've added a couple of things that aren't showing up. Even as root, delete is still blanked out. It's Suse 8.0 distro with KDE 3.0 Anyone had this trouble?

thanks

Rich.

Maybe you shoud be a user to edit his/her menu using Menu Editor.

Find it here:
/home/username/.kde/share/applnk
(it is hidden .kde file, login as username, otherwise the username cannot use it if you modify these as root without giving the permission back, e.g. using properties ...)

/etc/opt/kde3/share/applnk/
(it is global, login as root)

Have a lot of fun ;-)

thanks, I will try it that way. I did manage to get some of it working (delete) by downloading the update patches from Suse so it must just be a bug or something.

cheers.
