Hi everyone! I really want to try out Gentoo, but I don't have an internet connection right now. I want to try it because it compiles everythign from source. So from what I have read, the Stage 1 installation is what I want. But this takes an internet connection, as far as I can gather. So my question is: Can I install using the LiveCD and just copy sources over from somewhere? I can download the sources from work, but I just don't know exactly how to get started on this. And why is there no Gentoo forum? Hmmm?
If you won't have a connection while you are installing, you will need the stage 3 tarball. Stage 1 compiles everything after downloading it. On the Gentoo site there is the Handbook - have a read of the Stage 3 description, I believe it will do what you need.
