INstalling Dual boot with Linux first on the Machine

Hello All,

I have an IBM Thinkpad T30 and I am runnning fedora core 2 on it at the moment. Works great I love it and I have it just the way I want it. As fate would have it I need Windows xp installed on it for a project thats comming up. Sad but true

Any way I have read this Forum (and others) up and down and have found hundreds of installations on how to install linux on a Windows PC but not the other way round!

I have LInux and sadly need windows xp aswell. How can I do this without losing my beloved Linux?

Here is my current drive config:

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda2 5.9G 3.9G 1.8G 70% /
/dev/hda1 97M 7.5M 85M 9% /boot
none 380M 0 380M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hda5 30G 8.5G 20G 30% /home

I can free up space on my home drive to make space for windows but i do not know how.

Then how can I get windows XP installed and not lose my LInux.

Please please help

Thanks all

Butter

butterbroetchen; um, do not know FC, but its not recommended to install any other os in front of W. reason (what i,ve heard) w is big hog especially
if you might want to add apps to it. that will be counter linux. hope some one else has better plan.

If you can free up some space, XP will reside on the partition you want it to. It will try to write over grub or lilo, so you'll have to reinstall whichever you use (I'd recommend doing that over adding Linux to the NTLoader - less work and easiewr to edit if need be). You can then add the partition where windows resides to your grub/lilo config file and dual boot.

Folks, don't try this with '98
