Install problem blue screen freezing

Im installing a dual boot system for the second time so i know whats involved!The problem is just after

"Detecting hardware to find CD-rom Drives" (at the very start)

the screen is just freezing with a bluescreen output.

Then another options screen prompting the user for a PCMCIA number.

It also says that most hardware doent require this PCMCIA

I didnt have this with my other computer!What is going on?

What distro is this (sounds like Slackware)? Did you verify that the install media has been downloaded/burned correctly? Are you using an IDE CD-ROM or something else?

Its an ubuntu install cd (an official disk (version 5.10)) Yes, im installing it using a cdrom and iv it configured so it boots from it too! Have you ever encountered this problem before?
