I am quite new here. I have redhat 9 on my laptop and the gaim I have is Gaim0.59.8. I was trying to upgrade my Gaim to gaim.70-1. I downloaded

gaim-0.70-1.fr.i386.rpm 2281 KB
gaim-0.70-1.fr.src.rpm 3109 KB

and saved both files on my home directory and then I did:

rpm -Uvh gaim-0.70-1.fr.src.rpm

I got this:

Then I did:

rpm -Uvh gaim-0.70-1.fr.i386.rpm

and I got this:

error: Failed dependencies:
gtkspell is needed by gaim-0.70-1.fr
libgtkspell.so.0 is needed by gaim-0.70-1.fr

Can anyone help me to deal with this problems?

Simple, install the dependencies.. for the errors you recieved for gaim-0.70-1.fr.i386.rpm package.. don't worry about the other one, as its a source rpm.

Most likely going by the error, you just need to install gtkspell and all should be well.. .

I have just tried to install gaim 071 to and ended up with the following :-

rpm -ivh gaim-0.71-1rh9.i386.rpm
warning: gaim-0.71-1rh9.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 883c1c14
error: Failed dependencies:
libgtkspell.so.0 is needed by gaim-0.71-1rh9
libtk8.3.so is needed by gaim-0.71-1rh9

where do I find libgtspell ?

By the way..if you do a search on "how to update gaim" you will see usefull hints. Hope it helps.
