Before I begin: I'm still somewhat of a Linux newbie. I know a little bit now, but I haven't got a good understanding of it.

I recently managed to get my SpeedTouch 330 Modem online (Huzzah!) and now I'm looking for a MSN replica for Linux. RedHat comes with Gaim, but it's an early version and doesn't support MSN. I downloaded the gaim tarball - since it was one of the only working links on the site - and updated to version 1.5. It works fine, but because I didn't use the RedHat RPM, I get the error message: SSL support is needed for MSN. Please install a supported SSL library.

I went to the related FAQ on the Gaim site and it reccomends I download the RedHat Gaim RPM, which the link to is broken.

...help?

Why do you use RH9, if I might ask? Instead of FC3 or 4?

Normally on the Gaim homepage there should be a link to an SSL package (at least a source package you have to compile yourself). Check that out.

If you just started out with a distro and didn't configure much yet, I suggest you get a newer version and install that one. Should save you some headache when it comes to available packages.
