Import data from MySQL to MSSQL

Hi,

First, I don't know where should I post this question, this is why I posted here. If this post should be in another section, please say it.

I want to import data from MySQL to MSSQL. I've been searching in the web, and I can't find a good and straight answer. How can I do it?

Regards,
PSC

The reason you are having trouble finding a 'good straight answer' is there are a lot of variables.

Since you are migrating to Microsoft, you might be better served by a Microsoft SQL group or a SQL group such as http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/

Having said that here is a rather dated walk through from Microsoft but it should get you started.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc966396.aspx

For more detailed help we would probably need a lot more details about the current and future setup. Be prepared to make tweaks to database queries . . .

Good Luck.

Lots of different ways.

Including a) write your own program, b) read a mysqldump into SQL Server, c) use a 3rd party tool, etc, etc

I'd recommend looking at SQL Server's "Data Transformation Services" (DTS):

http://www.databasejournal.com/featu...ort-Wizard.htm

MySQL is "visible" to SQL Server as an ODBC data source.

'Hope that helps .. PSM

PS:
The new, MSSQL 2008, version of DTS is now called "SSIS":
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141026.aspx

PPS:
Googling for SSIS/MySQL tutorials, I found an even BETTER solution, "MySql Connector", here:

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/databa...-to-mssql.aspx

http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/
