I am a newbie to linux, and thankful to start learning. I am running Mandrake 9, with kernel 2.4.19-16, and /usr/src/etc/ does not exist. This is supposedly where config, xconfig, and menuconfig are supposed to be. I have reinstalled mandrake 3 times, using full package installs, and still haven't found any luck. Can anyone help out there?

hmmm, if you are looking to compile a kernel, you could always download the full source for the latest kernel from http://www.kernel.org and then decompress the archive to that location, then you can configure and compile your kernel and upgrade the kernel at the same time
when i used mandrake 8.2 i had to add the kernel source after the install...in 8.2 i went to the software manager (think its called that), then put a check mark by kernel source.
