How to use secial character in password

Hello All,

I have a .ini file which contains user name and password. Unformtunately there is a restriction to use special character (only # and $)in password. So will # be understandable by unix as password or it will comment out the rest of the part after #.

Please suggest.

Thanks,
Ankit

What program is this for? If it's just a bash script, you could put the password in quotes. In other configuration scripts, they don't treat '#' as a special character unless it's at the start of a line - so you shouldn't have a problem.

I guess the simplest answer is "try it and see"...

you can also put a \ in front of the #

ex: 123# would be 123\#
