How to re-compile a kernel?

OK, so I wanna add "sound", stereo to PartedMagic-4.3
it has flash10 pmodule, but no sound
Repo and others say I need to re-compile kernel or sound

I also need to add gcc, somehow, to pmagic

pmagic is slackware based
it has installpkg, makepkg, etc already installed

I successfully installed both sbopkg and slackpkg
to pmagic, with some errors
I also installed sbopkg flash-plugin
which worked Flawlessly(good job AlienBob)

In the end I wanna create "slackware" live
I am using pmagic cause it is slack based
small at 90+mb
has a "auto-find" usb/hd function
and has LXDE too
see here for more on that

Now, I have NO coding experience guys
so where do I start??
thanks!

Depending on what version of Slack it is based on you should be able to grab the package from slckpkg if you uncomment the correct in /etc/slackpkg/mirrors.

After you get GCC and the build tools a kernel compile should be the same as any Slackware instructions and they are all over the net.

Thank you

Problem is when I installed slackpkg
it did not install /etc/slackpkg??
don't know why

I was thinking of manually moving my slack /etc files to it
and not overwriting, just adding necessary stuff.

Problem with adding gcc is what are gcc depends?
