Why can't I compile this kernel module? (kernel: 2.6.8-powerpc Debian sarge)
Hi,
I've been attempting to compile a kernel module (an ov511 video driver) for a while, but make always dies with:
Code:
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.8-powerpc/build M=/home/jon/ov51x-jpeg-0.5.4 modules
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.8-powerpc/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2
I've installed all the 2.6.8 (and 2.6.8-3) kernel headers and just about everything else on the server that has 'kernel' in the name. But I still can't get this module to compile. Any ideas?
Install the module-assistant package then use m-a prepare to have the kernel headers properly linked for building modules and try it again. You may need to check the path to make sure that the /lib/modules/2.6.8-powerpc is there if not it may be the /lib/modules/2.6.8-3-powerpc that you need to use in your command.
