How to permanently unmount partitions?

My laptop is dual boot Fedora 10/Vista. A few days ago I manually mounted my Vista partition in Gnome. Now every time I boot my 'OS' and 'Recovery' partitions are mounted automatically.

There is no entry in /etc/fstab for these partitions. Booting into runlevel 3, they are not mounted. This appears to be a Gnome specific deal.

I don't want them mounted. How do I stop this activity?

You can add them to your fstab and put in the option "noauto". I would think fstab would overrule Gnome, but I'm not sure (I use KDE).

That might possibly work, but I see that the items are listed in the Places menu under "Computer" and "CD/DVD Creator" (2nd section). These are apparently not bookmarks, as they are not listed in .gtk-bookmarks.

Where are these stored?

I blundered across this on google. Maybe it'll work for you...
