how to get kmail to play a mp3 when u get mail


I am trying to find out by posting here how you can ex an mp3 from terminal. I want this so that I can play a short song when i get mail, for my amusement. I am quite simple.

check procmail... should be pretty simple.

wel to just do it from a terminal i wouldn't use xmms, that's gonna screw things up. something simpler like mpg123 would be much more appropriate. should beeasy to do it in a procmail tho.

i didn't see any proc mail. but xmms does what i need. I didn't need ti to stay in terminal. thnx for all the help.

procmail. not proc mail. how on earth is xmms gonna help you acheive what you want to do? unless there's some dumb plugin for it.

well kmail says has an option that syas run comamnd then u type in the comamd. so when i get uses the command xmms mail.mp3.
then it opens upa nd starts playign the mp3 so i know when i have mail

oh you're doing it the lame way.. no conventional unix mailboxes etc... fair enough.
