How to compile X-Windows for RH7.2?

I was hoping to compile X windows for RH7.2.
I downloaded the source code and entered make World which seemed to work except I noticed nothing was being compiled, just alot of enter directory/ nothing to be done messages.
I don't have X installed on the system.

Has anyone compiled X windows before? I know I have to edit the site.def file but I am not sure what?

Thanks.

umm... I think that "make world" should have done it. Did you let it go all the way through, or did you stop it?

Here's a template for hosts.def from LFS... edit it to fit your system:

# Begin XFree86 hosts.def file
/* System Related Information. If you read and configure only one
* section then it should be this one. The Intel architecture defaults are
* set for a i686 and higher. Axp is for the Alpha architecture and Ppc is
* for the Power PC. Note that there have been reports that the Ppc
* optimization line causes segmentation faults during build. If that
* happens, try building without the DefaultGcc2PpcOpt line. **************/
