Different shell - different history
On "korn shell" (ksh) systems, .history or .sh_history is common. My my Mandrake "bash shell" (bash); .bash_history.
Bourne shell (sh) does not have history capabilities, except on those systems where sh is linked to ksh.
that's the end of my knowledge though.
