Hard drive doesnt stop spinning

Ive recently set up a server on a old compaq deskpro 590 with debian (woody) and apache but the mounted hard drive continues to spin even when it hasnt been accesed for some time. I was wondering if theirs some sort of power management software that will put the system in standby (stop drive spining)until its accessed by the internet or the console. Any help is much appreciated thanks

ACPI daemon. But it's unlikely the BIOS in the old Compaq supports it... are you sure nothing is accessing it?
